Surface In-Situ Networks
Assesses ambient air quality for ambient air level of air toxics, performs baseline assessment monitoring for new air pollutants, and provides technical assistance to the public, local government agencies, tribal organizations, and industries; and in developing their monitoring plans and air monitoring projects. Provides quality assurance and quality control oversight for statewide air quality monitoring operations, develops and maintains air quality databases to provide rapid access to environmental data to improve assessment, mapping, and reporting of environmental conditions, monitors for releases of radionuclides and work with local governments to address impacts from previous radionuclide contamination in Alaska, and issues Air Advisories to inform the public of hazardous air conditions, such as wilfire smoke particulates or high carbon monoxide levels.
