Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) are tunable mid-IR laser sources with high power. QCL's come in pulsed as well as in CW operation with most of the ladder requiring liquid nitrogen cooling. QCL's have stable spectroscopic characteristics, but a high beam divergence. Linewidth and wavelength availability are the limiting issues.
